Great Homes announces new collection of homes in Ashford

Great Homes Limited, the Chafford Hundred-based developer of fine sheltered and family homes, is delighted to announce plans for a new collection of apartments at Singleton in Ashford, Kent.

Set to be a landmark building, the complex will provide a total of 46 beautifully designed one and two bedroomed apartments aimed at buyers of 60 years and over. It will be set in secure landscaped gardens of nearly 1½ acres that overlook a reed pond and, with local amenities and Ashford town centre just a short distance away, will be ideal for a lively and convenient lifestyle.

The environment to be created will be one of security and safety, with a CCTV entryphone system in place to enable residents to monitor who enters the building. There will also be 24-hour support and careline facility available, along with a duty manager so that residents can live independently in the knowledge that help is always on hand if needed.

“We are delighted to have secured the land on which to build the new complex as there is tremendous demand for this style of secure accommodation in the area,” explains David Sparks, managing director of Great Homes Limited. “We have designed some beautiful homes with lots of extras and plan to start building in the next few months.”

The complex will be an exciting place to live when complete. Set in the area known as the Garden of England, Singleton, itself, offers restaurants and shops, a hairdressers, medical and dentistry practices, a leisure centre and a vets all within walking distance, while the market town of Ashford is just a few minutes drive away.

Along with numerous street cafes and specialist shops set in medieval streets, Ashford also has two mighty shopping centres and one of the largest designer outlet centres in the UK, the McArthurGlen. The Eurostar also stops at Ashford for easy journeys into London – or France!

The everyday needs of residents will, therefore, be catered for, plus the beauty of the new home complex is that it will be located in an area that offers plenty to do when family and friends visit. The area is surrounded by the North Downs countryside and close to the Romney Marshes, so there will be lots to explore at leisure. The Windsor Windmill and Godinton House, for example, are local landmarks, and there are many pretty little villages such as Kingsnorth and Cheeseman’s Green too.

Venturing a little further afield, historic Canterbury, Royal Tonbridge Wells and Maidstone will be well worth a visit, and even the coast’s Folkestone and Dover are a short journey away. The complex will have the added bonus of a guest bedroom so that residents’ visiting friends and family can easily stay over.

The apartments, themselves, will be offered in a number of different layout styles to suit personal preferences. For example, some will have separate kitchens while others will afford an open-plan effect, and many of the apartments will have balconies, patios or Juliet balconies.

Common to all the apartments, however, will be a high level of finish and a superb specification that includes, double glazing, economic heating, an elegantly fitted bathroom and a fully fitted kitchen with integrated appliances. Residents will be able to enjoy not just a fitted oven and hob, but a washer/dryer, fridge/freezer and stylish extractor chimney, too, in their kitchen!

The complex will afford car parking and even a buggy store, plus one of Great Homes Limited’s most exciting plans is for a specially designed communal lounge and conservatory that will be the perfect place for residents to relax and meet new friends. A planned free internal telephone system within the complex will ensure friendships continue and thrive.

The complex offers the chance of independent living yet in an attractive, secure and particularly convenient location – an exciting combination for couples and people living on their own. The concept is similar to that of Sandringham Court in Hadleigh, Essex, which has been tremendously successful for Great Homes.

The company will be unveiling prices for the apartments shortly, along with a brochure that will feature an artist impression and specification details.
