Colleagues, invited guests, family and friends joined the directors of Great Homes Limited and the Mayor of Ashford, Councillor Malcolm Eke, last week to celebrate the official opening of Windsor Court in Singleton, Ashford in Kent….. and they were joined by homebuyers keen to be the first in the queue to reserve their brand new home.
Windsor Court, which is based on another of Great Homes Limited’s developments, Sandringham Court in Hadleigh, Essex, which just a few weeks ago won the prestigious ‘Best Essex Development’ award in the Daily Mail UK Property Awards 2005, was designed to meet the demand for secure homes aimed at buyers of 55 years and over in the Singleton area.
The Mayor of Ashford, Councillor Malcolm Eke, who lives in Singleton himself and masterminded the fundraising efforts for a brand new village hall that stands proudly a few short steps away from Windsor Court in Hoxton Close, officially launched the development on October 28 by cutting a bright red ribbon.
“It is a pleasure to come here today to see Windsor Court,” said Councillor Eke on the day. “I’ve seen the development grow over the past few months and it is a pleasure now to see it open. I think the idea of sheltered homes will make it a real asset to the area and one that is definitely needed. I am, therefore, delighted to officially open Windsor Court and welcome Great Homes to Ashford.”
Doreen Mowatt, Grace Halley and Biddy Hide, all residents of Sandringham Court, gave their blessing to Windsor Court. They had travelled from Essex especially for the launch to see how homes similar to their own are taking shape.
Construction work is well underway and when complete the three-storey Windsor Court will comprise 46 one and two bedroom apartment homes in a secure environment. Launch guests were able to see several of the ground floor apartments, along with a beautifully decorated and carpeted internal corridor. All the corridors will be presented in the same fashion.
Guests were also able to see two show apartments. The Leeds, a two bedroom design, and the spacious one-bedroomed Eynesford, which both offer a living/dining room and kitchen, a bathroom and private hallway, were the two apartment styles chosen as show homes. Each gave visitors the opportunity to see the carefully considered internal layouts of the apartments, along with the high specification that Windsor Court offers.
Each apartment, for example, will offer fully fitted kitchens in a soft wood effect finish. A washer/dryer, fridge/freezer and a double oven, along with an extractor hood, hob and spot and pelmet lighting will be integrated into the design for a seamless look. Most bathrooms, too, will come complete with a separate bath and shower in a white finish, and all will be complimented by elegant yet fashionable wall tiles, floor coverings and vanity units.
New residents will enjoy the fact that they will be able to move in with the minimum of fuss as the apartments are fully carpeted too. Other finishing touches include UPVC double glazed windows and doors to either juliet balconies or communal gardens, terrestrial and satellite television points, and a free internal telephone system. Plus, residents will eventually be able to make many new friends in a communal ground floor residents’ lounge, complete with its own conservatory.
Safety and security will be a priority at Windsor Court, and Great Homes Limited will eventually install a complete CCTV entryphone system for residents’ complete peace of mind, along with an integrated fire alarm system. A 24-hour support and
careline facility provided by specialist company Peverel will be in place, and the landscaped gardens that will eventually surround the building will be secure and gated. A car parking area for residents and guests will be provided within the grounds.
Windsor Court is ideally located for local amenities – day-to-day shops, restaurants for leisurely lunches and community facilities are all within easy walking distance. For non-driving residents, there’s also a good public transport network that allows easy access into the heart of historic Ashford to enjoy its own wide range of shops, along with banks and building societies, theatre and restaurants, or further afield to any one of Kent’s lively towns and villages, or its coast or countryside.
A number of homebuyers have already made a reservation and secured their new home, which, says Great Homes Limited’s managing director David Sparks, a wonderful start to creating a brand new community at Windsor Court. “We are delighted by how well Windsor Court has been received in the area and how many people visited us on the launch day itself and the launch weekend to see how the development is taking shape,” he says.
