The long-awaited unveiling of the residents' lounge and conservatory at Windsor Court, the collection of sheltered apartment homes for buyers of 55 years and over currently under construction in Singleton, is set to take place in just a few weeks time.
Sara Gilbert, the in-house interior designer at Great Homes Limited, the award-winning company behind the project, has chosen some striking colours and fabrics for the curtains and soft furnishings, complimented by stylish carpets, sofas and chairs. The look, which has been created to provide a warm, intimate and atmospheric feel to the room and its adjoining conservatory, is due to be ready for unveiling mid February.
"I have created a look which I know the new residents when they begin moving in this spring will like," says Sara. "It is elegant and yet lively too, but above all my aim was to achieve a space where everyone could feel relaxed and enjoy the company of fellow Windsor Court residents. The project has been a real pleasure to work on."
The residents' lounge and conservatory is the latest stage in the design and construction process that will eventually see a collection of 46 one and two bedroom apartments in the Hoxton Close complex ready for occupation.
The specification of both the brick and white weatherboarded effect building itself, the communal areas and each of the apartments within is especially high. For example, the building is constructed of environmentally friendly materials that provide good sound and heat insulation. And inside, all the internal walkways, like the apartments and residents' lounge, will be beautifully decorated and carpeted.
Each apartment will come well equipped too. The private kitchens, for instance, will have an integrated washer/dryer, fridge/freezer and a double oven as well as a hob with extractor above, spotlights and under pelmet lighting as standard. Even the residents' lounge itself has a fitted kitchen for everyone to share.
The bathrooms, most of which will have a separate shower and bath, plus a timeless vanity unit, will be fitted with white sanitaryware to enable Windsor Court's new residents to personalise them with their own accessories. Each bathroom will be carpeted to reduce accidents from slipping and, like the kitchens, they will have classic modern tiling to the walls.
Other finishing touches in the apartments include double glazing, Economy 7 heating, telephone and television points, including satellite, a free internal telephone system, and, in some cases, a private Juliet balcony, or French doors to the garden if on the ground floor.
But perhaps the most important of all the virtues of living at Windsor Court will be the range of safety and security features. That, and its location close to local amenities for day-to-day needs, and road and public transport links into nearby Ashford for lots of shopping and leisure opportunities.
Great Homes has installed an entryphone system at Windsor Court which comes complete with a CCTV camera that ensures visitors can be seen and identified before they are invited in to the building. The company will also provide a duty manager, plus a 24-hour support and careline facility through specialist company Peverel for complete peace of mind in the event of an emergency.
Extra security is provided by the fact that the building stands in a fenced and gated environment. Surrounded by attractive wrought iron railings with little pathways m/f
that lead to the entrance gate and car parking areas, and all set within gardens that have been landscaped and are already maturing, it is a private and safe space where residents can enjoy being outside.
The Windsor Court project, which was officially launched by the Mayor of Ashford, Cllr Malcolm Eke, at the end of October, has attracted a lot of interest from prospective buyers, not to mention the local newspapers. This is largely due to the award-winning designs upon which it is based.
Great Homes Limited won a prestigious award in the Daily Mail UK Property Awards 2005 for its Sandringham Court development in Hadleigh, Essex. It was named the 'Best Essex Development'. A now completed project of sheltered apartments, it proved a landmark building and has become the home of many new delighted residents.
"Our commitment was always to create wonderful new homes at Sandringham Court and we were delighted when we won such a top award for our designs," says David Sparks, managing director of Great Homes. "We are using those same designs for Windsor Court, and are pleased to say that the project is successfully taking shape. We expect the first residents to be moving in in the next few weeks."
Windsor Court is due for completion this spring. For further information, to request a brochure or to make arrangements to view contact the sales centre on 0800 0 288177 or visit Great Homes Limited's website: www.greathomesltd.co.uk. |
