A brand new development of homes in the Gidea Park conservation area in Romford, Essex, known as Highlands, is taking shape ready for its official launch in a few weeks time – much to the delight of the many homebuyers who have already expressed an interest in the new project.
The prestigious collection of homes immediately captured the imagination when the plans were unveiled a few months ago and has already generated a lot of interest. Designed exclusively for buyers of 60 years and over, Highlands will meet a demand for luxurious homes within a complex that provides a safe and secure environment for independent living in the area.
“We are delighted with the initial response to Highlands,” says David Sparks, managing director of award-winning Great Homes Limited, the company behind the new project. “We felt there was a need for homes designed especially for more mature residents, and although we are still in the construction stages of the development, already we have had many enquiries.”
Highlands will offer 23 one and two-bedroomed retirement apartments standing in private landscaped gardens surrounded by mature trees. Presented in mellow shades of brick with architectural features, and built in accordance with the Lifetime Homes standard and the Code for Sustainable Homes with energy efficient features in place, Highlands will blend sympathetically with the local street scene in an area known for its outstanding Arts & Crafts architectural styles. A ‘garden suburb’, Gidea Park is a designated conservation area made famous at the beginning of the 20th century when it was created as an exhibition of 140 homes designed to echo the foremost architectural methods and thoughts of the day.
Each of the apartments will be spacious, bright and offer a particularly high specification – and all at a pleasing price. Some will have one bedroom, others two, but all will be presented with its own individual entrance door from a decorated and carpeted corridor, and an internal layout that combines practicalities with ease of living.
There will be a number of apartment layout styles from which to choose. Similarly, many of the apartments will feature patios or Juliet balconies, so again residents will be able to choose the style that suits them best. There will be apartments at ground level featuring ‘Secure by Design’ windows and alarms, and further apartments at first and second floor level which will be easily accessed by a lift. The complex offers many possibilities to choose the apartment that suits individual tastes perfectly.
The beauty of the new homes at Highlands is that they have been designed to ensure residents are both safe and secure – and have complete peace of mind. A CCTV entryphone system will be a prominent feature, ensuring only welcome guests and visitors will be able to enter the building. There will be 24-hour support and careline facilities and a visiting day manager in place for emergencies, an integrated fire alarm system, plus the development’s large communal garden with an electric gated drive will be secure to provide stress-free leisurely walks.
At present all apartments are being offered ‘off-plan’, which means that buyers can have the opportunity to be one of the first to choose and secure their apartment of choice. Show apartments will be available to view shortly, but whichever apartment is chosen common to all is an impressive specification, lots of communal safety features and some interesting finishing touches.
Every apartment will have a fully fitted kitchen, for instance, which if secured early on can be personalised with cabinet finishes from a selected range. Integral to each kitchen will be a range of Bosch appliances – a fitted oven and hob, combination microwave, washer/dryer, integrated fridge and freezer, an extractor and spot and pelmet lighting are all standard.
Other finishing touches in each apartment will include oak internal doors, gas central heating, coving, carpets and cushion flooring, while bathrooms will be presented elegantly with vanity furniture and a heated towel rail as standard. Some apartments will also feature an en-suite shower room.
Residents will have the additional benefit of being able to meet up with neighbours in a communal lounge, conservatory and library, while a free internal telephone system, car parking and a guestroom are just some of the other features the new homes will offer.
Great Homes Limited’s prestigious collection of new homes is located in the vibrant community of Gidea Park, just a stone’s throw from Romford. There are many local amenities within easy walking distance, while Romford, along with the major towns of Brentwood, Upminster and Hornchurch offer everything from everyday essentials to some of the finest shopping in Essex. London is easily reached too, with a journey time of around 20 minutes by fast train.
