SALES CENTRE AND SHOW HOMES OPEN AT HIGHLANDS IN GIDEA PARK

Highlands, the prestigious new development of 23 high specification retirement apartments in Main Road, Gidea Park, Essex, was unveiled last weekend – much to the delight of the many retirees who have already expressed an interest in securing one of the beautiful new homes.

The long-awaited sales suite where visitors can see a show apartment finished in an exciting combination of terrain colours by local interior designer Sarah Nicholson, plus a partly dressed sales office, launched on March 8. The apartment is furnished to show how an independent lifestyle in safe and elegant surroundings can be easily achieved.

Advisors from Great Homes Limited, the multi award-winning company behind the project, and its agent Porter Glenny were on hand to offer advice and information on the new project, which is being built in compliance with the Code for Sustainable Homes and is expected to be completed by this summer. The sales suite is now open each Saturday and Sunday 10am to 5pm**.

Highlands, a handsome building that echoes the Arts and Crafts style of architecture found in Gidea Park, has been designed exclusively for buyers of 60 years and over. Its features include luxurious one and two bedroomed apartments, a state-of-the-art safety and security specification, a residents’ lounge, library, guest suite and landscaped gardens – all standing in a convenient location close to local amenities and within easy reach of nearby major towns.

“We are excited by Highlands and the lifestyle it can offer our eventual new residents,” says David Sparks, managing director of the Essex-based company Great Homes Limited. “We have given careful thought to the design, facilities and quality at every step of the way and are over the moon with the result. We are sure people will like it as much as we do.”

Each apartment at Highlands affords a layout designed to maximise on space, with one or two bedrooms depending on which style is chosen located off a private hallway. There’s an elegant white bathroom complete with a vanity unit and heated towel rail. Some apartments even have an ensuite to a bedroom, and all have the convenience of a separate shower. A spacious lounge and dining area, and a beautifully presented kitchen complete the layout.

Each kitchen is fitted with wood ‘peach skin effect’ units that are delightfully soft to the touch, topped by quartz stone worktops. Included as standard is an impressive array of integrated Bosch appliances such as a washer/dryer, fridge and freezer, oven, combination microwave and a hob. Completing the stylish look are spot lights and under pelmet lighting to not only give a practical solution but to create an atmospheric glow to the room too.

All the apartments will be ready to move straight into when complete, with carpeting to the main living areas and cushion flooring to the kitchen. There’ll be telephone points, terrestrial and satellite television points and gas central heating so residents will be settled, warm and chatting to their friends or watching their favourite programme in no time at all.

But while the apartments themselves have attracted much interest, it is the outstanding safety and security features of Highlands that have captured the imagination of interested buyers too. For example, the roadside entrance to the development will feature an electric gated drive, while ground floor apartments will be alarmed and afford high quality windows and doors that meet the strict criteria of the Secured By Design standard. A CCTV entryphone system installed at the main entrance door will allow only welcome visitors to enter the building itself.

For residents’ further peace of mind there will be a duty manager on call for day-to-day support, a 24-hour emergency support team available at the press of a button and free internal telephone calls between apartments, and to the duty manager’s office.

Highlands is an outstanding building. Its design concept is based on that of Sandringham Court in Hadleigh, Essex, and Windsor Court near Ashford in Kent, two consecutive developments of retirement apartment homes for which Great Homes Limited won prestigious Daily Mail Property Awards.

It is situated in a conservation area known as the ‘Romford Garden Suburb’ where the largely 20th century architecture is widely recognised as being some of the finest in Essex. Externally, the building has been designed using subtle coloured bricks, clay roof tiles and architectural features like small paned windows to ensure it blends sympathetically with its surroundings.

“We feel sure Highlands will become a landmark building in Gidea Park and we are delighted that with the launch of the sales suite and show apartments visitors will be able to see for themselves what an exciting development it is, “ says David Sparks. “We are very proud of Highlands,” he adds.
