Highlands is a handsome building designed to blend with the Arts and Crafts architecture of the area. It stands in an area known as the ‘Romford Garden Suburb’ in Essex. Major Sir Herbert Raphael, a Member of Parliament and owner of the Gidea Hall estate, an area of land on which much of the present day Gidea Park stands, had the idea of creating an ‘Exhibition of Houses and Cottages’. That was in 1909 and the result was the best example of town planning the country had seen with homes displaying the finest architecture of the day.
Highlands echoes those designs with its red brickwork interspersed with soft textured areas, Juliet balconies and bays with windows in a style reminiscent of the period. A brand new building, it stands in landscaped gardens with trees that might have at one time stood in Sir Herbert’s estate.
The 23 one and two bedroom apartments at Highlands feature kitchens with integrated Bosch appliances that include an oven and hob, washer/dryer, integrated fridge and freezer, and a combination microwave. Adding to the luxurious feel, spot and pelmet lighting is provided as standard. Bathrooms are elegant with top quality white suites, a vanity unit and a heated towel rail, and some apartments even have an en-suite shower room, while throughout are lots of finishing touches.
Residents find themselves living amongst friends. Relaxing in the interior designed lounge and library with their comfy seating provides the perfect opportunity for residents to meet new friends, while a free internal telephone system ensures it’s always easy to keep in touch. State-of-the-art safety and security features offer complete peace of mind.
